Inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh
I wrote Go As A River in 2024 after reading Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Story Of A River.” Here is the animated reading I created of that story.
In 2025 I attended the “Sound of Zen Retreat” at Magnolia Grove Monastery and my Dharma Group sang this at the Be-In on the last night with Win Grace on accordion & Nick Savelli on percussion.
Win and several others asked me to create videos of the song and how to play it with my non-traditional chord structures. Here you go Win!

Thank you so much, Chris! I love love love this song. I’m sure you know that because once I heard you play it in a jam I wanted you to play it again and again. And now I can learn it! And maybe learn those fancy guitar chords Too. I might have to capo up though.
Beautiful, peaceful and as always inspirational.
Thank you, Kim!
Oh my! I thought that was just a picture of the Story of the River, but I just got to see the beautiful drawings and to listen to the reading. The beauty is beyond words. Sending much gratitude and love your way, Chris. I hope to play with you again!
Thank you Win! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It really is a wonderful story from Thay that gives us a way to live our lives in the present moment.
